Join the Westchester Disc Golf Enthusiasts at Throw Pink. The $10 entry free includes a Throw Pink DX golf disc, clinic hours, ring of fire, and a nine-hole round. This women’s and juniors’ (girls and boys) Disc Golf Clinic provides instruction and encouragement for beginners in a friendly and fun environment. This event is a fundraiser to bring awareness of and support for the fight against Breast and Ovarian Cancer through a fun-filled day of disc golf.
Join Bedford Audubon and the Friends of FDR State Park for a morning bird walk.
Join FoFDR's president, Jane Daniels at her and her husband's presentation of their book Walkable Westchester. Bedford Audubon schedules lectures at their monthily meetings and this one will inform you about some of the 200 parks in Westchester that are suitable for hiking and walking. The 600 miles of hiking trails offer a range of opportunity from accessible trails for the mobility impaired to rugged hilly terrain through woodlands, wetlands, fields, meadows, or along streams and rivers, ponds and lakes, and shorelines.
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is Giving Tuesday and the Friends hope you will make a donation to Friends of FDR State Park. We hope you feel, like we do, that FDR Park is a wonderful place to visit. New birders are invited to join Bedford Audubon's nautralist, Tait Johansson to explore birding hot spots in Yorktown. Bring binoculars or call 914.232.1999 to borrow a pair.
The Friends of FDR State Park have received a grant to build two bridges which will connect FDR State Park to Baldwin Road near French HIll School. But until we receive a final ok, we cannot build those bridges. But there is other work to be done.to town. There is brush to clear and invasives to trim back along on trail that goes from Near French Hill School near Baldwin Road into FDR State Park.
Want to make a difference? Help clean up the southern area of FDR State Park. There is an abundance of large items that need to be moved to where the park staff can haul them away. Bring work gloves and water. Your help will mean a cleaner FDR!
