Join the Friends as we celebrate and open the trail from Baldwin Road to the Outlet Bridge
You are here
The Friends will trim vegetation on the trail leading to the bridge or work on the bridge.
Join the Friends of FDR on a two-mile round trip hike to enjoy the progress made in connecting the park to Baldwin Road. Previous First Day Hikes have taken visitors to the inlet stream. Now it is possible to walk to the outlet stream thanks to a bridge over the inlet stream and boardwalks over wet areas.
This hike is a great introduction to a part of the park that has been seldom visited. Enjoy a scenic area by the bridge and views out over Crom Pond. Learn about a bridge building project next spring and how you can join the fun.
Join the Friends with a walk to the Outlet Bridge site and enjoy a portion of FDR State Park that likely you have not seen before. Wear closed toe shoes, no sandals, bring water. Joint with Yorktown Trail Town Committee.
The Friends will complete the board walk, work on improving the trail, and help Boy Scout Eric Fitzgerald on his Eagle Project: If you would like to help, please meet at the swimming pool parking lot and then walk to where we will be working.
Join the Westchester Disc Golf Enthusiasts at Throw Pink. The $10 entry free includes a Throw Pink DX golf disc, clinic hours, ring of fire, and a nine-hole round. This women’s and juniors’ (girls and boys) Disc Golf Clinic provides instruction and encouragement for beginners in a friendly and fun environment. This event is a fundraiser to bring awareness of and support for the fight against Breast and Ovarian Cancer through a fun-filled day of disc golf.
Join Bedford Audubon and the Friends of FDR State Park for a morning bird walk.
Join FoFDR's president, Jane Daniels at her and her husband's presentation of their book Walkable Westchester. Bedford Audubon schedules lectures at their monthily meetings and this one will inform you about some of the 200 parks in Westchester that are suitable for hiking and walking. The 600 miles of hiking trails offer a range of opportunity from accessible trails for the mobility impaired to rugged hilly terrain through woodlands, wetlands, fields, meadows, or along streams and rivers, ponds and lakes, and shorelines.
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is Giving Tuesday and the Friends hope you will make a donation to Friends of FDR State Park. We hope you feel, like we do, that FDR Park is a wonderful place to visit. In 2016, we would like your support for two projects which will enhance your visit. We would like to purchase
