Jane Daniels, President called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm. 

The minutes of the January 2017 meeting were accepted

Financial Report – Jane Daniels reported for Jim Brosnan that there is $1515.62 in the bank as of Febuary 13, 2017. 

Everyone present signed the Volunteer Service Agreement for NY State which were left for Bob Guarino. 

  • By Laws revision Jane Daniels passed out copies of the Bylaws which were revised in 2015. She suggested that announcement of meetings be changed from one week to five days. Mark Kotkin asked that everyone take time to review the Bylaws and report back at the next meeting. 
  • The following were nominated as board members to be voted upon at the next meeting Mark Kotkin, Dianne Press (Secretary), Anwer Qureishi (Vice President), and John Robinson 

Reports

  • Recreational Trails Grant - Jane Daniels reported that she has ordered a 48 cubic yards of gravel which Frank Mami will distribute. He will submit the hours park employees have worked so that the Friends can be reimbursed. 
  • Interpretive signs - Dianne Press reported that remaining portion of the National Heritage Area grant will be to make five signs to tell park visitors about the railroad bed (along the Mid Park Loops0 the stone barns, the CCC camp, the roller and the maintenance pits. The signs will be in both Spanish and English. 
  • Directional Signs - Two park employees have been working on making signs which tell visitors about the trails in the park. susan Wagner and Pam Lupfer are working on a map and description of the trails that will be placed at various places around the park.
  • I Love My Park Day May 5th - Jane Daniels had a previous discussion with Bob Guarino about what the Friends could do. Mark Kotkin mentioned reaching out to other groups to get them involved that day. It was decided to do trail maintenance from 9:30-noon, meeting at the Swimming Pool parking lot. 
  • Hike through History - Saturday June 16th Rick Fisher and Dianne Press will lead a hike which will start at Pavilion 1 and go from 10-12.. 
  • National Trails Day - Saturday June 2nd

Jane asked Dianne to find out what date in 2018, the property that is not FDR Park became a county park so we could consider some sort of celebration. Jane asked that board members think about the Friends joining the New York New Jersey Trail Conference as a maintaining club. The Friends would then be responsible for maintaining the trails in the park. Cost is $50/year. 

The meeting adjorned at 8:30 pm.
