 Jane Daniels, President called the meeting to order at 7:30

The minutes of the June meeting were approved.

Jim Brosnan submitted a financial report. There is 5261.03 in the bank as of September 12, 2018.

Bob Guirano reported the state will be installing larger and simpler signs to direct people to parking lots and the pool. The parking areas at French HIll and Indian Hill sections of Trump State Parks have been improved. 

  • Recreational Trails Grant Program - Jane Daniels; a check reimbursing expenditure of gravel was deposited. Once the pool is closed for the season, Framk Mami will begin distributing gravel along the Mohansic Trailway. 
  • Signage - Interpretive and directional - Pam Lupfer
  • Pathway through History - Sunday June 17 10-12 Rick Fisher and Dianne Press had 22 people on the 2 hour hike

Discussion -

    • How many meetings per year should we have? With only 4 people present, the discussion was delayed until the October meeting
    • Plans for next year - What can we do to help the Park and enhance the experience for Park visitors?
      • Bob would like the Friends to be the eyes and ears on the trails, reporting problems and making sure the vegetation is cleared. Jane will announce a Trail Care team, but no one is interested in being in charge. Jane will desgin a  sign in for posting in kiosks and will announce in the next e-mail. Mark volunteered to help with Trail Care, but not head the effort. 
      • Host First Day Hike, Path Through History, Bird Walk 
    • The Park would like us to take on more care of the trails - how can we do it? 
    • How can we engage others in our activities? Dianne will put a poster on kiosks stating what Friends have done for the Park/
    • Other projects to help the park? Additional wildflowers; the park would plow an area prior to their busy season of opening the pool
    • Yorktown Street Fair - Do we want to participate? The support connection walk and the Street Fair are both on Sunday October 7. Jane is not available so someone would have to be in charge of the Street Fair. She indicated that the Street Fair the last two years have not had good attendance and the Friends have not seen any benefit to being there. Dianne will contact Charlie Castronova about having a booth at the Support Connection's walk and we will skip the Street Fair.
